I’m searching for a paradise
City and Colour’s paradise is this summer’s song for me. I get nostalgic about summer when I hear it even though it isn’t even over yet. I have/had this fear of heights, but this summer has been all about conquering them. It’s still there, but that fear is something that could never stop me when it comes to city views from up high. Whenever I visit my financial advisor I get excited because she has one of the best office window view of downtown.
I’m also lucky to have a friend that lives on the 15th floor and this is the view.
An addiction
I have too many mugs at home. It’s a little bit of an addiction, but once I saw that Parlour had branded keep cups, I couldn’t resist.
Recently, one of my favourite mugs broke. It was a starbucks mug with white ceramic on the inside, and stainless steel on the outside. It’s was pretty to look at and I loved that it was ceramic on the inside. Unfortunately, my purse (and general klutziness) got in the way and it broke. I would love to replace it, but it’s only available at Starbucks in the states. Oh well, maybe it will come around again next year!
Canada Day
Osborne block party
Gotta love those short shorts
There’s something about this guy that reminds me of Paul Rudd, schmexy.
Some fire-fighters enjoying the festivities.
The Old Man Is Snoring (149/365)
I was sitting at Chapters one day and noticed that the man who was sitting at the couch next to me had fallen asleep.
Chinatown (127/365)
Normally graffiti is just graffiti, but there’s a certain artistry about this wall that I love. I love the layers, the polaroid impressionist, and the man sitting there staring at you.
The purpose of our trip to Chinatown was to get some ginseng sliced up. I was really surprised to find that ginseng is actually a North American phenomenon. The root apparently originated in Vietnam, but most of my family consumes is quite different and is grown in the united states.
Yellow Bike (108/365)
One early morning….
I saw this bike and I could not stop taking photos of it.
Brunch (106/365)
There’s something really special about ritual of brunch that I absolutely love. It’s late enough in the day that I can still sleep in, but I’m able to have my favourite meal of the day – breakfast. It’s the conversations that come out of lingering cups of coffee. That lazy Sunday morning feeling when you don’t really have to be anywhere for hours. This weekend (a long weekend ago, since I’m just a tad late in posting, I met up with some of my fellow food lovers and we were all able to try the brunch at Prairie Ink Cafe located inside McNally Robinson bookstore.
Picnic in the Park (97/365)
Lounging in the sun
Soaking up the rays
Having some lunch
and throwing around the foodball
Scaling the Walls (86/364)
When I was younger I was never afraid of heights but somewhere along the way I started to develop a fear of heights. Maybe it was my natural klutziness combined with a fear of falling that started it. I tend to dislike bridges, but I have no issues bungee jumping. I hate stairs and will only walk on the far side away from the spiraling centre, but I have no problems signing up for sky diving. It takes a lot of courage to sit 8 stories up supported by only a flimsy piece of plywood and some rope.
He wasn’t the only one hard at work that morning. There’s something really decadent about enjoying your morning cup of coffee while watching other people hard at work.
Early Morning (82/365)
After a week of failed attempts, we finally made our way downtown for our Parlour ritual. Grey, cloudy mornings make for great pictures and always seem less dreary when there’s perfect coffee.
